Three Things Thursday

Happy Thursday! I'm so ready for the weekend!
I literally suck at blogging.  I haven't been able to come up with any topics! So I decided to resort to a standby- 3 Things Thursday- 3 things I've been loving!

1. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfecter BB Cream
source

I bought these several months ago at Ulta for around $10 or less with a coupon.  I haven't used any type of liquid foundation in years. I've been an avid user of either Pur Minerals or Bare Minerals for a very long time.  My face is pretty sensitive. So a lot of liquids give me weird tiny bumps.  But I bought this to try it out (you can return anything at Ulta) because of the BB Cream fad! I actually watched a video from Makeup By Alli about it. You can see her post here.  I love this stuff!  I had planned on using it to cut down my time getting ready before work. Mineral powder tends to be messy and time-consuming to apply.  I've used it every single day since I bought it.  I can easily build the coverage or just apply a thin layer.  But I do have pretty good skin, and I don't need a lot of coverage.  I highly recommend this stuff! It doesn't feel heavy in the Louisiana heat or greasy at all. But I do apply a setting powder over it when I want full coverage.  That takes me to my next new love!!!

2.  Benefit's Hello Flawless Custom Cover-up with SPF
source
I bought this at Ulta using one of the 20% off coupons not long after the BB cream.  I was looking for something to set it with.  I really like this powder!  I can use it alone for a good coverage also.  There isn't a lot in the package for $34.  But I've been using it daily for a couple of months, and I haven't touched pan yet.  Since I haven't worn liquid and needed a cover-up I don't have anything to compare this to.  As long as I can buy this on sale I will definitely re-purchase.  I use the lightest shade- Me, Vain? It actually works pretty good with my skin, but some days I add my Nars Laguna Bronzer over it.

3.  Lauren Conrad Bow Ruched Blazer
source
I bought this, of course, on sale at Kohl's.  It looks white in the picture, but it is actually a very pale pink.  Its super cute and very lightweight and only 3/4 sleeves.  Its very versatile. I've been wearing it over some dresses for work.  And I love it with a plain tank underneath and jeans too!  I love the look of blazers, but I've never bought many.  It is just way too hot here for that. I don't care how cute it is!  But I can actually handle keeping this on.  Well for now anyway- I might say something different in August when its 100 degrees.

I'm doing a 5k on Sunday to benefit Children's Hospital of New Orleans.  Its Called the Run Forest Run, and its sponsored by Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.  I'm really excited about it because my husband is coming and 2 other couples!  I honestly couldn't run a half mile without stopping to walk when I did the last one in March.  I've been getting up at 5 am 3 times a weeks to run.  I progressed to running 2.5 miles without stopping then walk/run the rest.  Then on Monday I aggravated my knee again.  I've had problems with this knee for a long time.  So I had to take the week off from running, and I've been wearing a compression knee sleeve.  I've been doing yoga every night at home, and last night I did a cycle class. I think that helped!  I'm just annoyed because I've been working so hard. I really wanted to run the whole thing- that was my personal goal!  But I'm worried about my endurance since I actually haven't ran since Friday.  Monday I had to come inside after .5 miles because it was bothering me so bad.  So hopefully it will be OK on Sunday!

My Celebrity Look-a-like

A Mommas Desires and Pacifiers

I'm a little late doing this... But I thought it would be fun to do!  I'm linking up with Raven for the "Who's Your Doppelganger"  I used this website to generate these.

Ok so let's see... First off: Why do I have 6 men?  And Charlie Sheen??? Ashley Judd I can live with even though I look nothing like her...  Queen Latifah, really??

So I used another pic:

Raven, are you jealous? I have Brittney on there! lol!
This one I can't get over "The Rock." I'm dying!!!  And Madeline Albright!!!! Of course I see the resemblance... And I can't forget "Ole Billy Bob!

This was so fun! I loved reading people's responses to this.  And since a lot of other people did this. I wanted to include the one that I used to get a lot when I was younger and my face was slimmer. I tried to find an older pic on my Facebook but i couldn't find a decent one. The only resemblance I could see was the squinty eyes and possibly the nose. Maybe if I didn't show so much of my big teeth...

Have a good Thursday everyone, and make sure you go check out everyone else's look a likes!

Wardrobe Wednesday: OOTD

Happy Wednesday!
I have been in the best mood today because we booked a trip to the Bahamas (Nassau) last night.  Its our first time traveling out of the country.  We're going in June.  I cannot wait!!!  We have to expedite our passports though, which we can't apply for until husband is done with dreaded tax day next Tuesday!  So we have appointment at the Passport office to apply for the expedited passport.  Next week will be 7 weeks from our trip.  Although the website says they are processing in 4-6 weeks door to door I don't want to push it!!
Last night I pulled out our birth certificates to make sure I had them for our appointment next week.  I had a major panic attack because mine doesn't have a raised seal on it (like a notary stamp).  Mine looks way different that Matt's, but he is a few years older than me.  So it looks like they just changed the way they were printed.  So I started crying- thinking I wasn't going to be able to get a passport.  My mom, bless her heart, says, "oops, maybe I was supposed to get it notarized or something.  Hell, I don't remember that was 25 years ago."  She's so funny!
So I called a few of my friends to ask them what theirs looked like.  I'm pretty sure I'm good!!!  It's printed on a watermarked paper with the official seal printed at the bottom.  But for some reason I thought it had to have the raised seal on it.  But I had to give my official birth certificate for my marriage license and to change my name to get a new social security card.  I guess I will find out next week when I go to apply for it.  Its going to drive me insane until then!!!  I googled an image and this is what mine looks like.  The seal at the bottom isn't raised.

I need vacation and packing tips!!!

Anyway... On to the reason for this post- my outfit today!  This is my first time wearing these coral Loft pants.  My only complaint is that they stretch out really bad.
blouse: Loft; capris: Loft; loafers: JCPenney; nails: Essie Turquoise and Caicos

Once again: sorry for the crappy iPhone pics.  I have had the hardest time waking up in the mornings lately.  So I can't seem to get up in time to take any pictures.

Anyone have any good earphones they can recommend that stay in while running?

My first 5k race

So I know I haven't blogged in well over a month.  I'm not really sure what happened. I just let time get away from me.  But I do miss blogging, and I'm hoping to stick to it this time. I guess I just ran out of things to talk about!!

I wanted to share a really great and fun experience with you guys!!  I ran in my first 5k race last weekend.  It was so much fun.
I have never been a runner.  I can jog- but short distances.  I have a lot of lower body strength in these big thighs of mine.  So my legs do not give out quickly.  But I get winded quickly.  I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.  But now that I think about it- I never really push myself THAT hard.
One of my very best friends, Heidi, ran in the Susan G. Komen Race in Lafayette, LA last month for her Nanny, who had breast cancer.  Her mother, at 50-something years old, just decided to start running.  And she trained for the race, and they completed it together in honor of her sister.
The company that I worked for in college for 3 years (the same company my mom and Heidi work for) sponsored the Child Advocacy Services annual Blue Run 5k race last weekend.  So she signed me up to do it.  I kept telling her I cannot run a mile- much less 3.1.  It was only a couple of weeks away.  We didn't really train for it.  The weather had been really bad so there was no going outside to run.  I was extremely nervous about the whole thing because I didn't want to look dumb walking so much!
I know that 3.1 miles is not far. But like I said before- I've never been a runner and I get winded pretty quickly into it.
So the night before the race I saw the Hunger Games with husband (it was my 2nd time seeing it- saw it at the midnight showing). So when we got home around 11 I could NOT fall asleep.  The last time I remember looking at the clock was around 2:15.  I had to get up at 6.  I needed to be at the site at 7:30, and the race started at 8:30.  It was in my hometown so it was about 30 minutes away.  By the time I had to get up, and I was running on 3-4 hours of sleep, I wasn't nervous anymore.  I felt like it was a total waste of my time.  I hadn't slept, I can't run a mile, and I just didn't want to do it.  But I went anyway.
I completely surprised myself in the race.  Obviously I wasn't doing it to win.  It was just for fun.  But I finished in 36:45 which I didn't think was bad at all.  I had estimated finishing around 40 minutes.  I ran a little over the first mile before having to walk a little.  I did take a lot of walking breaks but just long enough to catch my breath.
When I saw the clock at the finish line I was so proud of myself for doing it.  You would've thought I had just won a triathlon or something- the way that I felt.  I was on this incredible high for the rest of the day, even running on a few hours of sleep.
My husband and I are doing the next one on April 29th with 2 other couples.  Its the Run Forest Run 5k sponsored by Bubba Gump.  The route goes through the French Quarter, and the money goes to Children's Hospital.  I'm super excited about this one.  And I'm actually taking the time to prepare for it.

Allison (Heidi's co-worker), Heidi, and I after the race

If anyone has any tips for a new runner throw them my way!!  A friend took pictures of us as we finished the race, but she hasn't sent it to me yet.  I can't wait to see it!
