Today I'm linking up with Erin at Everything According to Erin for a favorite of the week.
I am loving my new Essie Ole Caliente polish from their new Spring 2012 Collection.
The website describes it as a red-orange with pink undertone. I don't know that I see much pink. But it's a gorgeous bright color and perfect for spring!
Happy Monday everyone!

Our Wedding Cake
I'm linking up with Britt at The Magnolia Pair to share our wedding cake! BTW, she's from Louisiana too!
I stressed out about our wedding cake because I know how expensive they are. I was terrified of where to get my cake. I had someone I went to high school with who had recently started an event planning business as my coordinator. So he was always helping me find good deals on stuff.
He recommended a lady who made cakes out of her house for a hobby. It was funny because it turned out it was my husband's cousin. So in my true bargainista fashion I have to brag a little here. She made and delivered both the wedding cake and groom's cake for... get this.... $250!!! And I loved it. It was simple and elegant and delish!
The cake was traditional wedding cake flavored with strawberry cream cheese filling, my fave!
And in true Southern tradition- the groom's cake HAD to be red velvet. The groom's cake was very small and simple. My husband's a golfer. So it was a golf course.
I totally forgot to order cake pulls!
I actually hated the way I looked in almost all of the "posed" pictures by the cake, except these since they were so candid!
So there's a little sneak peek at out wedding cake! I've loved looking at everyone else's so far. Thanks Britt for hosting this link up!

Laissez les bons temps rouler
Today meant coming back to work after my really long weekend! And I'm back today to share a few pics from our Mardi Gras celebration. Just the two of us went on Sunday, and we had a blast. It was sort of our little celebration for him becoming a CPA. We rode around a little first just looking at houses. We would love to live in the city, but we're just not sure if it is for us. We toy with the idea all the time. But we both would want to live in a traditional New Orleans-style house. But I don't know how safe I feel living in the city. Here's one of my faves all decorated for Mardi Gras:
We went into the quarter to eat lunch. Then we went to a bar on Bourbon, The Old Absinthe House. We've been going here a few years. Its a good place to people-watch. And they have AMAZING bloody mary's (my fave).
I also wanted to share this video. This guy was awesome! He was a one-man band in the quarter.
Then we headed toward uptown to watch the parade. We packed an ice chest, two chairs, and a case of Bud Light! We had to walk about 9 blocks from where we parked to get to the beginning of the parade route.
So here are a few of my favorite floats. Sorry for the bad quality. Its tough to take pics with your phone as the floats are passing, especially standing behind people.
And then on the way home as we were driving I snapped this picture of the dome all lit up!
Can't wait until next year! Maybe by then Husband won't be working in public accounting and we can celebrate a little more!

Will Ferrell- I totally missed him. His float rolled first. The float said "More Cowbell" on front! |
Gator |
King Kong- its tradition for the crowd to throw the beads at this float! |
Can't remember the name of this one, but it was pretty! |
Louisiana Sports |
Whale |
Bachasaurus |

Happy Friday- outfit & a few sales
Happy Friday!! I am exceptionally excited and happy today, because it is my last day of work until Wednesday of next week!! I took the day off on Monday, and Tuesday is Mardi Gras, of course!!!
We'll be headed into the Big Easy on Sunday for a little Mardi Gras celebration. We're going to the Bacchus parade on Sunday afternoon. Will Ferrel is the grand marshal this year! But I'm sure we'll watch all of the parades that day. Last year during Bacchus we got a parking ticket. Let's hope we find a good spot this year!
I want to share a few peeks of my outfit today.
This dress is from Gap. I got it during a 25% off sale a few weeks ago. I love it. I think its so versatile.

Banana Republic 25% off sale items (in stores and online)
